The above are photos of an early smallsword also known as a pillow sword mounted on our extra light blades. The example on the left has a cross guard only 3/16th by 3/16th inch square with a length of 6 inches, no knuckle guard, and small perforated shells. The Pas De Annes are large enough to allow one gloved finger on the ricasso. This example has a 34 3/4 inch blade to the shells, 36 3/4 inches to the cross guard, and weighs 21.5 ounces (610.5 grams). The hilt in the photo on the right is similar, but with larger shells. When necessary we can reduce the weight of these blades even further by removing metal from the forte, but that will increase assembly time due to the extra grinding required.
